Welcome to Our Institution
The advent of Christabel Educational Trust took place in the year 1982. The first effort of the Trust was the Beginning of Good Shepherd Matriculation Higher Secondary School on 9th day of June 1982. The institution had a humble beginning with 105 children with classes from LKG to standard II in the outskirts of Chennai city. The institution was raised for the purpose of helping the children of the downtrodden society to impart basic education to help them build their future career as illustrated in the Chinese proverb “it is better to teach fishing than to give somebody fish to eat”.
Gradually the combined efforts of the leadership and the learned staffs started yielding its fruit by upgrading its classes from 3rd standard to matriculation in the year 1991 and to higher secondary in the year 1992. From then on the school has shown its proficiency in bringing out successful candidates who are now professionally sound as doctors, engineers, lawyers and professionals in many other fields of excellence. As a mark of recognition and remembrance the school hailing from the outskirts of Chennai working with the children of the most under privileged community was awarded best school in the years 1993 and 1995 by the education Ministers of Government of TamilNadu namely Mr. Aranganayagam and Mr. Anbazhagan respectively.
Today the institution is proud in announcing its growth in terms of number of students - 1000 + children and also infrastructural growth with classes from LKG to 12 standard served by 32 strong faculties and 10 non teaching staff rendering a selfless service without whom these feat should have been impossible by the Management.
Apart from the value based education the children are also actively involved in the charity works initiated by the Christabel Educational Trust. The children collected lot of clothes and other materials used for welfare of the tsunami victims, Gujarat Earthquake victims etc. The Trust has also contributed to the Chief Minister fund whenever and whatever is possible. Apart from these activities the Christabel Educational Trust is conducting medical camps, blood donation camps on a regular basis with the assistance of Lions club, Rotary club, Sankara Netralaya eye hospital, MN eye hospital, etc.
